Welcome to Geneva High School’s Advanced Placement Program. These courses offer rigorous instruction and learning while rewarding students with the experience of college level study and evaluation.

To prepare our graduates for a successful experience in college, this school district has offered 8-9 AP courses for many years. This preparation, both in the course content and the May exams have enabled thousands of GHS graduates to earn college credit while preparing themselves for the demands of university study.

Student work is evaluated by professors and trained consultants who score nearly one million exams taken each year throughout 14,000 schools. The 35 GHS students who took the AP US History exam, for example, were graded among 238,934 peers.

Earning college credit in high school enables GHS graduates to move into upper-level courses more quickly in college, allowing time for study abroad, early graduation, or the pursuit of a double major or BA/MA program. While the academic press of these courses challenges students, the experience of a formal, timed exam prepares them for the stress of college evaluations.
